Daniele's final university project, Inspired by the concepts of blossoming and metamorphosis, utilizing them as metaphors to be visually represented through an expressive and performative costume.
To ground these metaphors, I explored into the experiences of the LGBT+ community, specifically focusing on the transformative journey of transgender individuals as they embrace their true identities. It is a topic of immense relevance, considering the persisting negative stigma surrounding gender and trans identities within our social context.
The costume itself embodies two distinct transitional phases: a cocoon state and a blossom state, symbolizing the process of coming out and self-acceptance. To authentically convey the message influenced by queer experiences, I have decided to collaborate with Velvet. The performance was enhanced by the use of a surreal kaleidoscope short video I created, that was projected onto the costume.
